About us

Wauchope & District Delivered Meals Service Inc is the Meals on Wheels service that has been serving the community of Wauchope since 1982. We are funded by the Department of Aging, Disability and Home Care (DADHC) under the Home and Community Care (HACC) Program. Our role is to assist people to remain living in their homes by providing meal services to frail aged, people with a disability and the carers of both.

Our Services

We deliver hot meals daily and frozen meals weekly. We also provide subsidised meal vouchers and have regular outings for lunch.

Delivery Area

Wauchope and districts within a 50km radius, that aren’t already serviced by another delivered meals service.

Delivery Times

Volunteers deliver hot meals between 12 and 1pm, Monday to Friday, except public holidays. Frozen meals are delivered at a day and time to suit.

Meals

Hot cooked at the Wauchope District Memorial Hospital with a fortnightly rotating menu and two meal options each day. With the meal, clients can also choose to have a sweet, soup, fruit or juice. Costs: Meal – $6.50, Sweet – $1.50, Soup – $1, Fruit – 50c, and Juice -50c.

Frozen cooked at Garden Village in Port Macquarie, which has a monthly rotating menu. Cost is $9 and includes a frozen sweet and soup.

*Special diets*can be catered to, foods can be pureed if necessary, there are plenty of options.

How to pay

Volunteers will issue receipts and collect weekly payments each Monday or if an account is better, these can be sent monthly or fortnightly.

To use our Service you can contact us direct or your Doctor, hospital or friend might refer you.

Clients might need us for just a week, a month or a year, cancel at any time and rejoin us at anytime.
